The folks behind the newest location of The Ginger Man have announced a tentative opening date of May 19. General Manager Jacob Bedford, who previously served as the assistant manager at the Fort Worth location, says work crews are wrapping up construction, laying hardwood floors, installing furniture and finishing the kitchen at the new La Vista Drive address.

So, what's special about the new location?

"It's in Lakewood. That's what makes it special," Bedford says. If you've grown to depend on The Ginger Man's eclectic selection of beers and dependable bar food, you can expect more of the same here. You can also expect some pretty great patio seating to indulge when the weather is agreeable. The upper level boasts both covered and uncovered outdoor seating. Bedford says the patios boasts a good view of nearby Lakewood Theater. A large window at the front of the downstairs dining room will open the space up to the elements, too.

If you're an East Dallas beer nerd you'll likely appreciate the impressive beer selection, which will trump the taps at area bars including Cock & Bull, Lakewood Landing, Cosmo's and more. In fact, with 65 taps and about 100 bottled beers The Ginger Man's mix of American craft and import beers will be one of the most well rounded beer offerings in the immediate neighborhood.

The Ginger Man Lakewood, 6341 La Vista Drive, (469) 607-1114.
