The Ginger Man hosted a "Taste of Dallas" food-truck throwdown on Saturday, featuring six local food trucks: Nammi, Jack's Chowhound, 3 Men and a Taco, Gandolfo's, The Butcher's Son, and Easy Slider. It was a balmy Saturday afternoon, and hundreds of people came out to grub and throw back a few brews under the sun.
The Ginger Man kept its back gate open so patrons could come and go between the food and the drink with ease -- a beautiful symbiosis. Here's a visual sample of the festivities.
Pan Handle Po' Boy from The Butcher's Son Braised beef with chopped up Andouille sausage and pepper jack cheese. Garnished with fresh cilantro and onion, all on a hoagie roll.
Beef Pie from 3 Men and a Taco Minced beef and onion all baked into a puff pastry pie crust.
The Classic and The Black and Blue from Easy Slider The Classic (left) had cheddar, lettuce, onion and tomato. The Black and Blue (right) topped the beef patty with blue cheese slaw and bacon, both skewered with a cornichon on top.
Grilled Pork Banh Mi from Nammi Pieces of marinated grilled pork on a 12-inch baguette slathered with garlic mayonnaise, topped with fresh cucumber, pickled carrots and daikon radish, jalapenos, and cilantro.
Club Met from Gandolfo's Turkey, ham, roast beef, and provolone, with lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise, but I think this guy was going Atkin's. All served up on a pillowy hero roll.
Coconut Chicken Taco from 3 Men and a Taco Pieces of marinated chicken with a curry kick dressed with pico de gallo.
Hot-N-Spicy Quesadilla from The Butcher's Son Chorizo and braised beef pressed in a flour tortilla with pepper jack cheese, jalapenos, onion, and cilantro; served with sour cream and pico de gallo.
Sweet and Lowdown from Easy Slider Goat cheese, bacon, and strawberry jam top the Sweet and Lowdown (foreground) with a strawberry on top.
BBQ Pork Taco from Nammi BBQ pork pieces tucked into two corn tortillas with cucumber, jalapenos, pickled carrots and daikon radish, and cilantro. Add Sriracha at your own risk.
Carolina BBQ Pork Taco from 3 Men and a Taco Pulled pork shoulder with a vinegary bite, dressed with pico de gallo.
The Roadside from Easy Slider The Roadside had cheddar and bacon accompanied by grilled jalapenos, fried onions, and barbecue sauce.
Double Brat from The Butcher's Son Two bratwursts poached in beer then grilled, served with onions and sauerkraut underneath and spicy brown mustard on top; all stuffed into Sheboygan hard roll.
