If you live for drafting your fantasy football team or completing your March Madness bracket, then you're going to want to be at Brackets (5300 E. Mockingbird Lane) this week for their first-ever beer bracket showdown. Tonight, order your favorite pint and you may secure it a spot in the beer draft (pun intended). The beers up for slots in the bracket include Rahr Ugly Pug, Abita Purple Haze, Peroni and Chimay Red. The 16 most popular beers sold tonight will move on to the first round of competition on Tuesday and Wednesday when the competition will be narrowed down. The eight remaining brews will move on to the second round of competition on Thursday night, and the final four most popular beers will be available on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday night the last two beers standing go head to head for your vote, which really does count in this battle because the champion suds will be offered at a special price next week. Think of it as a reward for all that time you spent on your fantasy football draft.

Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
