City Celebrates Topping Out of Omni Dallas Convention Center Hotel

Mayor Tom Leppert and others gathered late Thursday afternoon for the topping out of the city-owned Omni Dallas Hotel, meaning all of the concrete has been poured and the 23-story, 1,001-room building has reached its maximum height. A steel beam with a Norwegian pine tree attached to it symbolizing growth and good luck, according to Omni general manager Ed Netzhammer, was hoisted to the top of the hotel to mark the occasion, which also featured a reception and tour of the facility scheduled open in early 2012.
