Night Moves: Steampunk and Burlesque at Firewater

Night Moves: Steampunk and Burlesque at Firewater

Excuses Cafe hosted a whimsically dark Western/Goth/Steampunk event last night in Deep Ellum, which brought in a exceptionally anachronistic crowd. Card tables lined the mezzanine and entertainment for the whiskey-drinkers was plentiful with burlesque-belly and sword dancing, and of course, a healthy mix of industrial trance. Artisans sold their jewelry artifacts and leather work, while the crowd interchanged western-punk steps with elegant baroque sways. Words and Photos by Alex Scott
