I’ve never called myself a “Beatles fan” (though I have favorite songs and have the utmost respect for the group’s influence on pop music). I just didn’t feel that I was educated enough in all the minutiae to have earned that title. I was, however, horror-struck at the butchered version of “Eleanor Rigby” I saw on American Idol a few weeks back, so it’s safe to say I dig a little on the Fab Four. The producers of Rain—The Beatles Experience, however, do more than dig. They obsess, love and glorify with a five-set, multimedia production that spans the Beatles’ entire career from 1964 Ed Sullivan Show times to Abbey Road. Witness Shea Stadium hype and sitar-psych-outs in between. The show combines live performances, historic newsreels, projections and more. Rain—The Beatles Experience prides itself on integrity and precision so even young fans who never got to see the Beatles can feel like they experienced (ah, the name becomes clear) the impact of the Beatles’ career. Performances run Tuesday through May 4 and May 6 through May 11. Tickets are $14 to $71. Call 214-373-8000 or visit ticketmaster.com.
