When I first saw that [bjm_danse] was performing at SMU’s McFarlin Auditorium, I naturally assumed it had something to do with the Brian Jonestown Massacre. A full-blown interpretive dance version of DiG! perhaps. Or maybe just Anton Newcombe and Co. playing sitars as the Dandy Warhols’ Courtney Taylor-Taylor–clad only in a loin cloth and sunglasses–destroyed a model of the Dubya presidential library with a hatchet, singing “woo hoo hoo!” as he sprayed the audience with a mixture of motor oil and fake blood. It other words–entertainment. Unfortunately, [bjm_danse] is really just a bunch of Canucks in leotards paying tribute to “the art of movement.” The group performs at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at McFarlin Auditorium, 6405 Boaz Lane. Tickets are $14 to $59. Call 214-528-5576 or visit titas.org.
Fri., Feb. 2, 8 p.m.; Sat., Feb. 3, 8 p.m.
