Parents, take a moment to venture back to the days when you were but a child or perhaps an adventurous teen. Now go ahead and tell me there wasn’t some crazy shit you would’ve paid money to keep your parents from finding out about—and probably still keep secret to this day. Perhaps there were choice items smoked and/or sold in/from their lovely home. Maybe that fire was not accidental. That Italian “businessman” really was looking for you to run “errands.” Those muffins at school…well, never mind that. Point is, some things parents should never find out about their children. Though some things they do find out may be surprisingly relatable. After all, parents were good-for-nothin’ kids at one point. In the Dallas Theater Center’s production of the comedy The Illusion, a father turns to a sorcerer to find his long-lost son only to see into certain events in the boy’s life. (Hmm, now that could be tricky.) Pops will, however, ultimately find out the truth about his estranged offspring…and hopefully, keep his wits about him. Parents, see how you’d react 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays and 7:30 p.m. Sundays at DTC’s Kalita Humphreys Theater, 3636 Turtle Creek Blvd. Tickets are $15 to $60.
