I never got into Jane Austen. The idea of corsets, arranged relationships, meddlers and bewitching looks that lead logically thinking folk to throw caution to the wind (in their imagination if not in real life) didn’t do much for me as a teen. I was satisfied to stick with fiction and realism via Judy Blume and Our Bodies, Ourselves. Some peeps, however, dug the period lit and still do…so much so there’s a movie about it. The Jane Austen Book Club follows a reading group whose members begin noticing similarities between their relationships and those of their beloved page-bound characters.
