A certain relative has a video on his cell phone of his dog attacking a raisin. I’m not exaggerating when I say that he shows it to pretty much every animal lover he comes in contact with. And to be honest, it’s safely one of the funniest things I’ve seen in the arena of pet recordings—and I’ve watched a lot of The Planet’s Funniest Animals. Then I thought little Stevie might have some competition when that compilation of cat clips hit the Internet a while back and a co-worker ended up in tears she was laughing so hard. But those are just clips, seconds-long segments that don’t really give a plot or details. The second annual Pet Flix Film Festival, however, offers short films from pet-friendly independent filmmakers nationwide that put furred and feathered actors in the starring roles. We’re talking substance and “sweetfriends,” people. The festival takes place from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday at Studio Movie Grill, 5405 Belt Line Road in Addison, and benefits the SPCA of Texas. Sponsors include Pet Supplies Plus, WÜF Pet Resort & Spa, VCA Animal Hospital Companies and Science Diet. Tickets are $10 and include admission, popcorn, soft drink and pizza. Purchase tickets online at spca.org.
