It’s being called Scooby-Doo meets Evil Dead, which are two of your favorite earthly delights. And while Saturday Morning Massacre went VOD last month, Thursday’s screening at Texas Theatre (231 W. Jefferson Blvd.) is your only chance to see the thing on a big screen in Dallas. The comedy/slasher was filmed in Austin, is set in the early ’90s and stars four meddling kids hellbent on decrypting the mysteries of alleged haunted houses. That’s all well and good until they stumble upon the wrong haunt. The ghosts at this manor are pissed, violent and trained to follow the scriptures of classic horror films (ie: don’t be a slut). The film’s got some familiar faces, like Johnny Mars, the actor who starred in more films than anyone at DIFF 2012. It’s also a good excuse for Austin nostalgia: The primary filming was all done at an old house located right in the middle of the city.
