The McKinney Avenue Contemporary (3120 McKinney Ave.) is a treasure, and much of that value can be credited to its active members group, many of whom are accomplished artists themselves. Their funding aids the nonprofit’s accounts, which keeps the MAC’s visual art exhibitions free to the public. Their compulsion to create, support and explore contemporary art allows for the MAC’s rich programming. Once a year we get to take a look at what those members have been up to, in the annual MAC Membership Exhibition. Yes, showing work is a perk of supporting the least Uptown space in Uptown, but this show has also grown into one of the year’s most popular offerings. It seems every artist in town gets into it, and that makes for one big deal of a night. This year’s theme is the symbol for Delta — yes, that little triangle that still triggers organic chemistry flashbacks. You’ll see it represented, tackled and sucker-punched in every imaginable way during this opening reception, which runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. The exhibition holds through August 31.

Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: July 27. Continues through Aug. 31, 2013
