How often do you get a chance to be a part of an experiment? No, not the kind where you take a pill and see if it gives you a third arm. We mean the kind where art and social commentary come together. Mega art farts the Goss-Michael Foundation and Oil and Cotton have joined forces to give you, the student, an evening of wine, nibbles, friendship, post-punk music and art creation. The experiment goes like this: Based on the premise that we present ourselves to the social world in a certain light, you’ll draw inspiration from Goss-Michael exhibits and the materials provided to create a layered collage of the idealized you versus the real you. And since it’s a cut-and-paste project, you don’t even have to be a Rembrandt- (the artist, not the toothpaste) level artist to participate. Identity Book: Collage and Photography is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Goss-Michael Foundation, 1405 Turtle Creek Blvd. Registration is $65, which goes toward local art scholarships. Reserve your spot at oilandcotton.com.
