Obsessed with the secret handshake? Interested in what goes on behind the closed doors of a fraternal lodge meeting? Wanna know what’s under those robes? We’re not sure that Ritual, the new exhibition at the Webb Gallery, will offer many concrete answers, but viewers can have a look at the art(ifacts) of American secret societies (Odd Fellows, Knights of Pythias, Masonic and others). Sure, you might get inspired to go buy out the fraternal order exposés at Half Price Books or watch the vast varieties of “rare documentary footage” that air predominantly on the History or Discovery channels. (Or, if you’re like us, you’ve already done those things.) Point is, get over The DaVinci Code and Eyes Wide Shut and take in a little nonfictional mystique this time; the show runs through October 22. The password is a plain ol’ “hello,” and admission is free. Webb Gallery, located at 209-211 W. Franklin in Waxahachie, is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays and by appointment. Call 972-938-8085 or visit webbgallery.com.
Saturdays, Sundays, 1-5 p.m. Starts: Aug. 26. Continues through Oct. 22
