We know — the economic times are hard. We believe that our work of reporting on the critical stories unfolding right now is more important than ever.

We need to raise $6,000 to meet our goal by August 10. If you’re able to make a contribution of any amount, your dollars will make an immediate difference in helping ensure the future of local journalism in Dallas. Thanks for reading the Dallas Observer.

After a long week of work, you're tired, cranky and you just want to sit back, relax and suck down a delicious concoction of lemon-lime syrup and booze. For margarita lovers, there's one day dedicated to the tequila-infused favorite of Texans. Sip, slurp and then vote for your favorite 'rita recipe at this year's Hotter Than Hell Margarita Meltdown. Restaurant participants including Primos, Iron Cactus and Sfuzzi are competing for the chance to win up to $500 by mixing up the best margaritas as judged by the crowd. Music and food will also be provided. May the best margarita win! The Meltdown takes place from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday in the Bishop Arts District, 408 N. Bishop Ave. Tickets are $20.
