Some art is rooted in lofty thought, meant to be sifted and worked over philosophically. Then, there’s the kind of art currently on display at RO2 Gallery’s (110 N. Akard St.) show Objectified. Here you get to play, think and admire, because a whole slew of sculptors, object makers and stuff creators have made an exhibition of fine object art. Joy Ude uses vinyl, printed floral fabric, Nigerian wax cloth, wood, formed copper plate and embroidery floss to make her statement: a repetitious pattern of preferred Caucasian Clark dolls, which could serve as a subversive decorating trick for any nursery. There are also wooden sculptures, metalwork items and other object-specific pieces. See it now, during this object-oriented time of year. The show includes work by Robin Ragin, Delaney Smith, Joy Ude, David W. Van Ness, Bill Bridges, Brian Molanphy, Brooks Oliver, Piero Fenci, Geryn Roche, Katherine Taylor, Ian F. Thomas and a solid set of nine more artists. View it Wednesdays through Saturdays through January 12. Preview it at ro2art.com.
Wednesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Dec. 26. Continues through Jan. 12, 2013
