Sometimes, when we feel a little Irish, we'll go over to the pub, drink some Tullamore Dew, imitate Thomas Mitchell's thick Irish brogue in Gone With the Wind and talk about how precious land is to an Irishman. Other times, we'll just put on a Chieftains album and start dancing. If we're feeling particularly Irish, we might just do both. The Chieftains are coming to town, and if you've never heard of them, get yourself to the Winspear Opera House and buy a ticket. The band, founded in 1962, plays traditional Irish music on traditional Irish instruments. But don't let the description fool you, because the Chieftains are one of the most innovative and longest lasting bands out there. Maybe it's that Irish whiskey courage, but these guys have never been afraid to stray out of their comfort zone, delving into the worlds of rock, punk, country and even mariachi music. No matter what they're doing, their music is the kind that sets your toes to tapping.
