If I ever need to find something in Lakewood, I automatically factor in 15 minutes for getting lost. Somehow, Greenville Avenue is Munger Street, Junius Street does this weird end-then-start-again-five-feet-north thing and Abrams starts veering off into Neverland. A mystery wrapped in an enigma, wrapped in an oh-my-god-these-houses-are-gorgeous. The best thing about getting lost in Lakewood is having stuff to look at in the process. Even better when that happens on purpose, right? Which is what will probably occur during this weeken's M Streets Lakewood Artists' Studio Tour. Fifteen artists at 11 different locations will have their work on display for map-wielding meanderers to check out at their leisure. Download a guide from tourartstudios.com, load up in the vehicular unit and loop all the way from Mockingbird Station to the Baylor Hospital area, checking out oil paintings, crazy beaded jackets, sculptures and photos by local artists. The tour runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Interested parties should tote along their checkbooks, as some items will be for sale. Admission is free.
