We tend to remember the bad teachers. The ones who went an entire year calling us someone else's name. The good teachers sometimes inhabit our memories as blurry figures with chalk. Phillip Done has written a collection of essays about his adventures in elementary education. We read them and feel inspired to focus the blur—to thank the person who equipped us to read a great book or count correct change. Phillip Done signs 32 Third Graders and One Class Bunny at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Barnes & Noble Lincoln Park, 7700 W. Northwest Highway. Perhaps we should thank him too. Call 214-739-3643.
