Round about the time that you thought lava lamps and Bob Marley posters were, like, the apex of interior design, somebody told you that if you watched The Wizard of Oz but turned down the volume and used Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon as the soundtrack, some crazy shit happens. So, you finished your game of Frisbee golf and met up in a musty dorm room to check out the psychedelic coincidence for yourself. And then two dudes argued about whether you started the music after the first MGM lion roar or the third, you realized how wasted you were and decided that it didn’t matter what music was playing — The Wizard of Oz is nuts. Just imagine for a minute how nuts it would have seemed if you hadn’t seen it on your roommate’s ancient VCR and had caught Scarecrow dancing to “Brain Damage” on a 35mm print with Floyd blaring in surround sound. Surreal, no? So even though your dorm days are long behind you, prepare to have your mind blown all over again at the Texas Theatre, 231 W. Jefferson Blvd., as they present the Dark Side of the Rainbow experience 9:30 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $9.50 and may be purchased at thetexastheatre.com.
