Ah, summer. As hot and miserable as it can be, it always has its upsides. OK, there’s really only one upside: the beach. The sand between your toes, the gentle crash of the waves, old hairy guys wearing Speedos…heck, even fairy tale characters need a beach trip now and again, at least according to Beauty and the Beach, the newest installment of Artie’s Playhouse (an interactive theater-in-the-round for kids of all ages). The play tells the story of Belle and the Beast’s beach vacation and how the evil snow queen tries to ruin everything. (What a beach.) See it at the Artisan Center Theater, 420 E. Pipeline Road in Hurst, through September 13. Tickets are $5. For showtimes and reservations, call 817-284-1200 or visit artisanct.com.
Thursdays, Saturdays, 10 a.m.; Tuesdays, 4:30 p.m. Starts: Aug. 16. Continues through Sept. 13, 2008
