Saturday at Lake Carolyn in Las Colinas, Dallas will compete against four far less capable cities — Chicago; Washington, D.C.; Long Beach, California; and Miami — and we’ll win. Because we’re Dallas and we decry it, dammit. Flugtag is part flying machine, part effektvolle Darbietung and one additional part celebrity judges — Marty Turco, Pudge Rodriquez, Spud Webb and more. Every team will be judged on distance, creativity and showmanship — that’s the little themed skit part that launches the dang thing. Or not. Mostly not. There’s a lot of crashing and splashing, but it’s all part of the fun and hey, free Red Bull. The first flight is at 1 p.m., so get there and cheer loudly. There’s a national title on the line.
