For centuries, pioneers have been heading west. They find something alluring or interesting about following the sunset and off they go to conquer the American plains. Nowadays we’d call them early adopters. But just as valuable to the creation of communities and culture are the people who let others test the waters and then write home that life is good, and the parking situation is better. East Dallas will miss Liliana Bloch Gallery and The Public Trust, two of our favorite spaces in town, but we’re excited to see them join the bustling population of galleries in the Design District. This weekend these galleries celebrate grand re-openings as next door neighbors with a shared address, 2271 Monitor St. Lilliana Bloch Gallery hosts a solo exhibition from artist Letitia Huckaby and The Public Trust opens with a group show. See the work from 6-9 p.m. Saturday. More information at lilianablochgallery.com and trustthepublic.com.
