Savor, the food and wine event that celebrates everything Dallas, is almost here. Just as with past years, organizers will hold a series of tastings, seminars and events throughout the weekend, but unlike in previous years, the Grand Tasting that anchors the festivities will be held right here in Dallas.
Previous Grand Tasting events have taken place in the Irving Convention Center, which is a significant distance from the wine stroll that is held in the Arts District and the tasting seminars held at various locations downtown. And while the Irving Convention Center was a fine enough space for the event in terms of size and layout, it was a terrible location that required a significant drive and consistent parking hassles for attendees.
This year the Grand Tasting will be held in the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, downtown. Just under 50 restaurants will be participating, with many more beer, wine and spirit vendors. And after pounding all that booze with nothing but little bites to pad their stomachs, attendees will likely be able to afford a cab ride home.
Tickets to the Grand Tasting aren’t cheap, ranging from $120 for general admission to a whopping $250 for VIP, with increases if you don’t buy in advance, but considering you don’t have to endure a stint on the Stemmons Freeway after you party it’s probably worth it. Especially if you’ve enjoyed the Savor events in the past.
