Texas Frightmare is this weekend, and Mixmaster has all the info you need about the three-day event, which includes a prom where Anthony Michael Hall will be in attendance, and a reunion of the cast of They Live. If that's not enough to get you excited, I'm not sure what's running through your veins, but I am sure there's a movie about it this weekend. The poster was designed by Rue Morgue magazine's Ghoulish Gary Pullin.

In addition to films with titles like Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies and Nail Gun Massacre, there's music too: Patricia Vonne performs Saturday in the "Frightmare Lounge." It's also the debut screening of Texas musician Jesse Dayton's film, Zombex. And who could forget when They Live's hero "Rowdy" Roddy Piper tried his hand at music?

Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
