Why all the confetti? Well, we love a good party here at the Observer. Basically, we ball just as hard tomorrow as the day before. Also, we pop bottles but we don't pour. (Editor's note: That second part is not true.)
With the announcement of the 2012 Dallas Observer Music Awards ceremony on Tuesday, November 13 at House of Blues, as well as our locals showcase on Saturday, November 10, in Deep Ellum, we'd love you to come to our party, which celebrates the music community and their various contributions in the past year. Also, partying.
Lineups for both the November 10 showcase and November 13 ceremony forthcoming, and nominees will be announced next week. Tickets for the Saturday showcase go on sale this Monday, October 1, at 10a.m. We'd suggest you just go ahead and buy those showcase tickets, which grant you entrance to every club and stage that night, because the lineup will be off roughly 8-10 chains. Standing room for the ceremony at House of Blues is free.
Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
