However, President Donald Trump has launched a new protest-worthy event, in the eyes of some North Texans, and so the week will witness another protest downtown.
Where and When Is the Protest?
North Texans will gather for the Dallas: Hands Off Iran! Protest on Friday, June 27, at 6:30 p.m. at Main Street Garden in downtown to object to the United States' joining the Israel-Iran conflict, which may have entered a cease-fire for now, depending on your definition of cease-fire.“As Israel’s massive, unprovoked bombardment of Iran continues, Trump is weighing whether or not the United States should directly enter the war,” wrote a promoter of the protest, El Movimiento, on social media. “This is the critical moment when we need to make it loud and clear that the people of this country reject another endless war.”
What's the Protest About This Time?
On June 12, Israel attacked Iran by air for fear that the latter was poised to make a nuclear weapon. The United States entered the conflict on June 21, conducting the “largest B-2 operational strike in U.S. history,” dropping bombs on three fortified Iranian uranium-enrichment sites. — Donald J. Many, including members of Congress and Vice President JD Vance, were surprised by the mission, titled “Operation Midnight Hammer.”
"I don't know that any of us knew exactly when the president made the decision, except for the president himself,” Vance said during an interview with ABC.
The entrance of the United States into the conflict has spurred outrage among some and planted fears of counterattacks on U.S. targets at home and abroad.
