Poor Roger Staubach. Because, see, Captain America was probably very happy giving an interview to The News & Observer in Raleigh, North Carolina, about all things bidness -- like, oh, "the strengths and weaknesses in the economy," "Fed rate cuts, stimulus checks" and the effect the downturn in the economy will have on his real-estate ventures. Only, then the reporter just had to go and ask No. 12 about Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, did Jessica Simpson's romance with Tony Romo really cost the Cowboys the Super Bowl?

A: It caused debate, but it sure didn't cost the Super Bowl. It seems like they're in love.

Well, sure, Roger. That's what she says, anyway -- as in, engaged. Swell. --Robert Wilonsky
