After nearly three decades in Austin, Fire Bowl Café is bringing its build-your-own stir-fry concept to North Texas.

"Stir Fry Your Way" is what the fast-casual chain is known for, and we can all try our own creations at the new McKinney location, which opened at 4060 W. University Drive on Friday, May 2.

To celebrate the milestone, the McKinney Chamber of Commerce is co-hosting a grand-opening celebration on Tuesday, May 27, which will have an official ribbon-cutting ceremony, free samples and exclusive promotions for the first guests. Also, for the entire month of May, they're running a BOGO deal on Uber Eats if you live in the delivery radius.

Fire Bowl is owned by DLC Restaurant Holdings, a Dallas-based hospitality group behind Firo Pizza, Craft Pies Pizza and recently acquired Desperados Mexican Restaurant. It's a family-run hospitality group that focuses on fresh, fast and flavorful dining experiences.

The idea of Fire Bowl is that it brings a fresh perspective to Asian cuisine by allowing customers to customize meals with a variety of main ingredients, fresh vegetables and sauces that are all made-to-order in sizzling woks.

Fire Bowl in McKinney is unique in that it is partnering with local Dallas chef Julian Rodarte, a McKinney local and owner of Beto and Son, a nine-year favorite in the local Mexican dining scene. They will collaborate on craft dishes that will bring new flavors to the menu and celebrate both the Austin-inspired concept and his culinary heritage.

Hi- yes. I'll take one of each, please.

We don't have eyes on what separates the McKinney menu from the Austin concept, but the regular menu features Asian food staples like edamame, summer rolls, crab rangoon and others. They also offer soups, noodle and rice bowls, signature salads and a full lettuce wrap platter.

The stir-fry section allows you to choose your protein, vegetable mix, sauce, and carb for a fully custom bowl. The sauce selection is interesting, with ginger white wine, lemongrass basil, Thai red curry and others unique to Fire Bowl.
