For 40 years, Terilli's Restaurant has been the dinnertime haunt for generations of Dallasites. Opening in 1985, the Italian institution on Lower Greenville remains a popular destination for dates or musical nights out, with weekly live jazz performances from Thursday to Sunday.

Later this year, the restaurant is expanding its Lower Greenville empire just down the street, taking over the small building that formerly housed Val's Cheesecake on the corner of Goodwin Avenue. The popular grab-and-go dessert bar from Valery Jean-Bart closed its doors in December 2024. Jean-Bart still operates Val's Blue Label downtown on Akard Street, primarily for catering orders or group cheesecake classes.

Today, a small sign reading "Terilli's To Go" is hoisted atop the building. A small crew is working on repainting Val's pastel blue exterior into a sleeker black gloss and adding additional kitchen equipment. Terilli's management says the satellite location will be focused on takeout orders only, and they are aiming for a mid-fall opening.

Through the new to-go location, Terilli's will offer weekday lunch service for the first time, with the tentative plan to open most days at 11 a.m. and close Mondays. Additional staff will be hired to work at the new location, which will slowly phase in takeout orders. Management says that initially, call-in orders will be redirected to the takeout location, and third-party online orders will remain at the main kitchen, but will eventually transition over.
