From the outside, Texas has a lot going on. To some, it’s a state struggling to reconcile its outlaw reputation with its cultural riches; to others, it’s a place full of good ol’ boys who keep us mired in ’60s-era social policy; and there are those who regard us a treasure trove of outspoken and innovative artistic arbiters. We’re all of those things, probably — some of which make us cringe, and some of which make us stand a little taller in our proverbial boots. Arts and Letters Live’s Texas Bound II: Hellos and Goodbyes is helping fuel some much-needed state pride with a night full of Texas tales written by Texans, for Texans and read aloud by a group of actors with Lone Star State roots. Settle in for drawls and y’alls from Tina Parker, who’ll read “The Big Sleep” by Sarah Bird; Gail Cronauer who tackles “Second Coming” by Andrew Geyer; Constance Gold Parry interpreting “Home Burial” by Kerry Neville Bakken; and consummate Texan G.W. Bailey with “The Texas Chili Contest” by an anonymous author. Fill up your Texas cup at 7:30 Monday in the Horchow Auditorium at the Dallas Museum of Art (1717 N. Harwood St.).
