Traditionally, silver is the choice gift for a 25 year anniversary, but a sculpture or painting from a celebrated local artist is a much better gift than that silver dolphin pendant you got your wife at the mall. Take the wife or any art lover to the XXV Anniversary Exhibition at Barry Whistler Gallery, 2909-B Canton St., to view a special collection commemorating the gallery’s 25 years of artistic achievement. Works from 25 artists, all of whom have previously been featured at the gallery, are on display through June 18. Local talents, including Allison V. Smith, Lawrence Lee and Scott Barber, are showcased via recent and past works in the exhibit. Barry Whistler Gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. Admission is free. Call 214-939-0242 or visit barrywhistlergallery.com for more information.

Wednesdays-Saturdays, 12-5 p.m. Starts: May 7. Continues through June 11, 2011
