You think you’ve seen it all by now. The Internet is chock-full of 9-year-old opera singers and 11-year-old breakdancing prodigies. The bar has been set pretty high by all those underage “Gangnam Style” impersonators on YouTube, so it’s going to take something pretty crazy to catch your attention. And really, what’s crazier than kids playing the accordion? Let’s think about this: These are youngsters willing to tear themselves away from video games and high fructose corn syrup to practice a bellows-driven free-reed aerophone. Think about how much shit people give these kids when they turn down cruising the mall to practice the freaking accordion. That takes balls, man. Give them props as Texas Folklife and the Latino Cultural Center (2600 Live Oak St.), present the annual Big Squeeze Accordion Contest for squeezebox maestros 21 years of age and younger at 3 p.m. Sunday. Marvel at their moxie, then stick around for a concert by legendary accordionist Flaco Jiménez on the plaza. Admission is free. Visit dallasculture.org/latinoculturalcenter.
