I hate to say it, but I don’t really do much “for the kids.” I’ve never volunteered at a children’s hospital or even knowingly contributed to a children’s charity. It’s not that I don’t care, really. I might even hit up Friday’s 2008 Race for the Kids Gala at Lone Star Park, just to prove it. What’s that you say? Individual tickets are $95? OK, perhaps I don’t care quite that much, but if you’ve got the cash to spare and a heart of gold, by all means head out for an evening of live and silent auctions, dessert buffets and Lone Star Park opening weekend excitement, including a concert by country star Gary Allan. It all benefits Dallas Challenge, Inc., an organization dedicated to “help youth stay in school, off drugs and alcohol, and out of the criminal justice system.”—party poopers. Call 972-566-4680 or e-mail sprice@dallaschallenge.org.
