Since first being published in 1873, Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days has been adapted countless times for stage and screen, most notably for the 1956 big-screen version starring David Niven and the revamped 2004 take starring Jackie Chan and Steve Coogan. Plano playwright Carol M. Rice still wants her shot at the title, however, so Rover Dramawerks is staging her adaptation of the play through March 21 at the Courtyard Theatre, 1509 H Ave. in Plano. Showtimes for Around the World in 80 Days are 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with an additional matinee performance this Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 to $18. Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sat., March 14, 2 & 8 p.m. Starts: March 5. Continues through March 21, 2009
