Comedian Jeff Dunham is arguably the most famous ventriloquist in the world at this point, thanks in large part to his Comedy Central specials. In fact, the premiere of his most recent show, Jeff Dunham’s Very Special Christmas Special, was the highest-rated telecast in the history of the network, besting even Barack Obama’s 2008 appearance on The Daily Show. Which means at least 6.6 million people had nothing better to do on Sunday night that watch a talking jalapeno on a stick and a racist Fox News-friendly character named Achmed the Dead Terrorist. Then again, I’ve spent Sunday nights watching marathons of Toddlers and Tiaras, so who am I to judge? This Friday (rescheduled from Saturday due to Game 3 of the NBA playoffs) the native Dallasite returns for a victory lap at the American Airlines Center, which has to be the ventriloquism equivalent of playing Wembley Stadium or something. Showtime is 8 p.m.; tickets are $42.50. Visit ticketmaster.com.
