Fact: Bacon is the best food in the world. This is not up for debate. Bacon could easily beat tofu in a street fight, hands down. Unfortunately bacon gets a bad rap sometimes–blame the Canadians and their ham in disguise, or those meager little strips that fry into a piece of bark in the microwave. Real bacon is where it’s at, and Central Market’s Cooking School Chef Christine Ilarraza will prove it as she demonstrate bacon’s versatility with recipes including bocaditos Espanoles, bacon popped popcorn, stir-fried Asian scallops with peppers and kale, and French apple tart with cheddar cheese and sweet brittle topping. Learn to love the best ingredient ever from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Fort Worth Central Market location, 4651 West Freeway. The class is $65, by reservation. Call 817-377-9005 or visit centralmarket.com.

Thu., Dec. 3, 6:30-9 p.m., 2009
