You have to wonder about the need for Grady Spears’ The Texas Cowboy Kitchen cookbook around these parts. If we want Matt’s Famous Austin-Style Chalupas, we can just head over to Matt’s in Lakewood, and we should all know how to make a proper Frito pie. But if you’re new to town, need a brush-up course or just want to check out cowboy cookin’ with a twist, then head out to the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth’s Café Modern (3200 Darnell St.) and celebrate the release of the second edition of the cookbook as you dine with Spears and co-author June Naylor. A book signing and hors d’oeuvres start at 6:30 p.m. with dinner to follow at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Café Modern. The dinner is $75 per person and includes a wine pairing with each course. Call 817-840-2157 for reservations or visit themodern.org.
