It’s been impossible not to notice the flowers this year, from the bluebonnets that dotted the roadsides a couple months back to the hibiscus and coral honeysuckle we’ve seen blooming in abundance more recently. Artist Carolyn Brown has a similar affinity for these eye-catching reproductive structures, evolved over millions of years to attract their desired pollinators (the fact that they compliment our lawns is just a lucky bonus). The Secret Life of Flowers, a new exhibit at Craighead-Green Gallery, 1001 Dragon St., collects her intriguing flower photographs, which show off the blooms’ intricacies against black backgrounds. Exhibits by artists Kendall Stallings and Norman Kary run concurrently. Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Mondays, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
