Gumbo, that New Orleans treat, is kind of funky and kind of spicy. The same can be said for the Gumbo Kings, an authentic New Orleans Dixieland jazz band. The swinging sextet will spice up the usually sedate lawn of downtown’s Ross Plaza at the Dallas Museum of Art when they kick off this season’s Jazz Under the Stars series. The band’s repertoire includes both originals and old favorites of the Crescent City. The N’Awlins Gumbo Kings perform 8 p.m. Thursday at the Dallas Museum of Art, 1717 N. Harwood St. Call 214-922-1200 or visit dallasmuseumofart.org.
Thu., May 10, 8 p.m.
