Dr. Seuss stories are universal. What is a Christmas without the Grinch? What’s a milestone without Oh the Places You’ll Go? But after a lifetime of hearing these stories, we’re ready to shake them up a little. We know that Sam likes Green Eggs and Ham. We’re familiar with that fateful journey to Solla Sollew. So, now what? Seussical the Musical takes characters and portions from these Seuss stories and more, weaving them into a completely new story, narrated by the Cat in the Hat and starring Horton, the elephant best known for hearing a Who and hatching an egg. The musical, performed by Teen Musical Workshop participants at the University of Texas at Arlington, puts a new twist on the classics, and has become a classic itself since its curtain rose on Broadway in 2000. Seussical the Musical runs at 7:30 p.m. Fridays, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays through August 19 at the Mainstage Theatre at the University of Texas at Arlington, 502 S. Cooper St.. Admission is $10. For more information, call 817-272-2650 or visit uta.edu/theatre.
Fridays, 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays, 2 & 7:30 p.m.; Sun., Aug. 12, 2 p.m. Starts: Aug. 10. Continues through Aug. 19
