There’s an ugly myth permeating the comedy sphere that you have to be a young man or a young woman to even make it to the starting line of the race. That’s just not true. Some of our most revered humorists and comedians like Larry David, Phyllis Diller, David Sedaris and Ron Shock got their start in the later part of their lives. Comedian, author and Sirius XM host Jeanne Robertson isn’t a spring chicken, but she uses her southern charm and infectious wit to find the humor in everything from the mundane to the unusual moments from everyday life and she does it all with the winning smile of a beauty queen. That’s actually an apt description since she was once Miss North Carolina. The author of Don’t Go to Vegas Without a Baptist, Don’t Bungee Jump Naked and Don’t Send a Man to the Grocery Store will step out on the stage of the Winspear Opera House (2403 Flora St.) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
