Names—they can be a tricky thing. Take for example Spiritual Stories of Inspiration in Metal. What’s that all about? It sounds like a lecture series on the spiritual awakenings running rampant in the world of heavy metal. Perhaps there’s a session covering Vince Neil’s salvation, courtesy of his Surreal Life-inspired friendship with former castmate MC Hammer. And maybe there’s a critical section on the lessons learned in Some Kind of Monster, which showed us the “softer” side of Metallica. But no, that’s not it at all. In actuality, it’s an exhibition featuring 30 new metal works from artist Tiffany Michelle, and a live performance by folk singer Heath Whitehead. Food and drinks will be served at the event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Stephanie Ward Gallery, 920 18th St. in downtown Plano. Admission is free. Fri., June 29, 5-7 p.m.
