Alcohol and literature have a long, cozy history. It hasn’t all been fun and games (see: Hemingway, Williams, et al), but at times it has been a mutually beneficial relationship — like when you finished that Flannery O’Connor book and headed straight to the bar. Tim Federle understands that great lit and great drinks belong together. In fact, he wrote the definitive book on the subject. Tequila Mockingbird: Cocktails With a Literary Twist is chock-full of alcoholic masterworks inspired by the great tomes of our time. And if you want more insight from the man responsible for “Love in the Time of Kahlua,” you’re in luck: Federle will appear at the Dallas Museum of Art (1717 N. Harwood St.) at 7 p.m Friday. Fresh Ink: Tim Federle — The Classics With a Twist muddles books, booze and humor for an evening of good, strong fun with the writer and former Broadway dancer. Federle will also read selections from his new book, Hickory Daiquiri Dock, which marries nursery rhymes to the liquor cabinet. Admission is free, you can make reservations at dma.org/programs.
Fri., Jan. 16, 7 p.m., 2015
