The Greyhound Adoption League of Texas is a great (or "greyt") cause, finding homes for retired racing dogs. Tony Romo, Jason Terry, Mike Modano and other human athletes won't be euthanized when they retire, and neither should racing animals once they've outlived their athletic careers. But the real reason to go to The Greyt Gala: A Mardi Gras Celebration and Silent Auction, is to see the great Burton Gilliam--of Blazing Saddles and "We don't care how you git here, folks, just git here!" fame. Catch him, Mavs announcer Mark Followill, an '80s cover band and more 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday at Hackberry Creek Country Club, 1901 W. Royal Lane in Irving. Tickets are $125 per person. Call 972-503-GALT or visit galtx.org.
