Support the independent voice of Dallas and help keep the future of Dallas Observer free.

One of the most popular -- or rather populist -- shows hosted by Gallery 500X is the The Open Show, and drop off for its latest installment is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, the 2nd and 3rd of June. Since the show is non-juried, $30 bucks lets you include up to three of your favorite creations without fear of rejection. Should you sell something, the house takes 30%. Titled The Hot-n-Sweaty Show, this production gives us a nice overview of local upcoming artists. If you'd like to join in, check out the gallery's website for details on hanging, size and audio visual requirements. Then pop by between 2 and 5 p.m. this weekend with your goodies, $30 bucks and a pen to sign your show contract and -- ta dah! You've got yourself a spot in the Hot-n-Sweaty Show. It opens to the public on June 9, from 7 to 10 p.m.

Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
