Feeding our need for more tacos faster, Fuel City has recently undergone an expansion. The gas station and so much more below the tangle of I-30 and I-35 has recently doubled its kitchen space and now passes tacos out of four windows. This is certainly great news if it means we get our tacos faster, particularly in the wee hours of the morning, when the people-watching is interesting, but not interesting enough to make us wait for our tacos.

Chosen as the Best Late-Night Restaurant in the 2013 Observer Best of issue, there are many reasons to love this spot. If not for the pastor, picadillo or barbacoa tacos at just $1.40 each, then for the zebra out back. Or one of the four donkeys. And how many gas stations have a swimming pools? (Better question, why does this gas station have a swimming pool?)

Fuel City is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with breakfast tacos from 5 to 10 a.m. All Fuel City tacos are served street-style with diced onions, lime, cilantro, jalapeño and hot sauce.
