The Best Things To Do at Dallas Restaurants and Bars

Each week we dig around and find unique, boozy and indulgent things to get into around Dallas. It could be an event, a special release at a bar, a seasonal pastry or just a weekly menu special we can’t stop thinking about. Here’s what we’ve got our eyes on this week.

We updated our inventory of hottest new restaurants in Dallas for April, if you’re looking for a new spot to try. Or an old spot that’s been reborn – there are those too.

There are lots of big doings this weekend. Deep Ellum’s first Friday Sip and Shop will get your weekend started, Ramadan Street celebrates the last few days of Ramadan in Richardson, and Saturday is the Big Texas Beer Fest. Oh, what to do, what to do.

Plus, scroll all the way down to plan ahead for a wine walk through the Munger Place neighborhood. You can peek through people’s houses and it’s not even creepy.

Deep Ellum First Friday Sip & Shop

Ramadan Street

6:30-11:49 p.m., Friday, April 5For the last three Fridays and Saturdays of Ramadan, celebrate community with a traditional Ramadan iftar dinner. There will be doner kebabs, kofta, Turkish tea and coffee, baklava, desserts and fun activities to break the fast. It’s free, but organizers request you RSVP so they can prepare.

3 p.m., Saturday, April 6Dallas’ original and Texas’ BIGGEST beer festival is going down this weekend at the fairgrounds. Sample 350+ beers from 80+ brewers as you enjoy live music and perfect patio weather. General admission tickets start at $45 and VIP goes for $80. Admission covers your first 12 2-ounce samples; another 12 will set you back $5 once you get there. A VIP ticket gets you in 90 minutes early, plus other goodies. And don’t you worry, the DART can be your DD this weekend with drop-off at the front door.

Rosé Wine Pairing Dinner

6:30 p.m., Monday, April 8UchibÄ celebrates spring with a rosé 3-course wine pairing dinner. Menu highlights are pork dumplings, seared scallops and hirame usuzukuri (flounder). Rosé pairings are from around the world and are guided by the restaurant’s beverage manager, Max Walther. Dinner tickets are $340 per couple, plus tax and gratuity. The ticket price includes the beverage pairing.

Make Best-Ever Bolognese

7-9 p.m., Wednesday, April 10Deep Ellum Brewing is hosting a Classpop where you’ll master a classic pasta dish and sharpen your culinary skills. You’ll make pasta by hand before learning a hearty Bolognese recipe using beef and Burgundy wine. Tickets are $55, all-inclusive.

Jewels of the New World Wine Dinner

Del Frisco’s, 2323 Olive St.
7 p.m., Thursday, April 11Join Del Frisco’s next week to explore the unique terroir of Chile. This one-of-a-kind, five-course dinner features Peruvian sashimi, sous vide pork tenderloin, dry-aged prime ribeye and Chilean sea bass, culminating with the iconic Don Melchor Cabernet Sauvignon. Dinner is $225, all-inclusive.

National Grilled Cheese Day

11 a.m. – 11 p.m., Friday, April 12Gooey cheese and bread. Do you really need any more convincing? Head to Community Beer Co. to celebrate this well-deserved national holiday. They’ll be serving unforgettable grilled cheese with custom add-ons. There’s plenty of seating, but reservations are encouraged.

Coffee Tasting Experience

1:30-3:30 p.m., Saturday, April 20Getting your hands on a ticket to one of White Rock Coffee’s classes is like getting an appointment at the DMV. You won’t need to worry about forgetting your birth certificate, but you do need to book two months out. This coffee-tasting experience is $75, plus fees. You’ll discover the origins of the beloved beverage, hone the tasting skills used by professionals and sample coffees from seven different countries.

Munger Place Historic District Wine Walk

Studio, 4939 Tremont St.
2-6 p.m., Saturday, April 20Established in 1905, Munger Place has the largest collection of prairie-style homes in Texas. The homes serve as a shining example of historic preservation and beauty. This tour allows you to take in five homes while enjoying a glass of wine at each, hand-selected by Jimmy’s Food Store and The Wine Therapist. Standard Wine Walk tickets are $40 prior to April 13 and $55 after that. Premium Wine Walk tickets are $70 before April 13, then bump up to $85.
