The food at Lumi Empanada & Dumpling Kitchen, a newly-opened Vietnamese-Brazilian restaurant on McKinney Avenue in Uptown, is a sharp contrast to its surroundings.

The restaurant looks and feels like an art gallery. But what’s really on display is a hot, innovative fusion menu, with finger foods, soups and salads, specialty drinks and more.

OK, doesn’t sound daring enough? Well, consider feijoada (black beans simmered with pork), the sal picõ tower (a pile of chicken, sautéed red and green bell peppers dressed in aioli), and Thai blue crab fried rice. We’re even a bit frightened by sriracha Buffalo wings listed on Lumi’s Tapas Menu. Especially if we’re supposed to wash them down with a spicy pineapple and jalapeno Margarita.

Yeah, they also carry empanadas, Asian-style dumplings and tne now ubiquitous green tea desserts. It’s open from 5 to 11 p.m. Sundays, and 5 p.m. to midnight Tuesdays through Saturdays.
