Today, the words “political party” have double meaning. And, forget partying like its 1999. Ten years later, America is celebrating the here and now, and a few local restaurants are joining the fun.
Lakewood’s Café Lago hosts an Obama Bash from 6 to 9 p.m., tonight with a buffet, live jazz, TV coverage and prizes. $20 admission includes one drink.
In Addison, Ferrari’s Italian Villa will be giving away a slice of red, white, and blue cheesecake (plain cheesecake with strawberries and blueberries) today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and from 5 to 10 p.m. with the purchase of an entrée. (Offer also valid at Ferrari’s Grapevine location.)
It’s just about as close to the Inauguration as you can get without leaving Dallas. Beginning at 10:30 a.m. today, the bar at Central 214 will serve bite-sized snacks inspired by the Obamas’ inauguration fare. Think seafood stew, duck and chutney, sweet potatoes and caramel cake. In addition to the special menu, which is free with a drink purchase, the Inauguration, including all day and evening activities, will be shown on a flat screen television set.
